Faire nam Fiadh

Faire nam Fiadh is a mountain top in the Fannaichs range, in the northwest Highlands of Scotland. It stands among steep ridges and long slopes of heather and rock. The mountain reaches 984 metres above sea level. An Coileachan, its parent peak, rises nearby to 997 metres. The summit offers wide views over the surrounding glens and lochs. The mountain is listed as a Corbett Top of Munro, a special category for peaks over 914 metres that are not themselves Munros. Several hill societies keep and check these lists on the Database of British and Irish Hills. The name Faire nam Fiadh comes from Gaelic and means ‘watch-place of the deer’. On the summit there is a small cairn and a trig point. The ridge walk from An Coileachan to Faire nam Fiadh takes about two hours. The path crosses rough ground with patches of bog and scree. From the top, sightlines stretch to the Torridon hills and the Cromarty Firth.
