What is MySpots?+

MySpots is a free platform that shows sights across Europe on an interactive map – castles, palaces, museums, waterfalls, lighthouses, archaeological sites and more. Every place comes with facts and images from open data sources.

Do I need to register to use MySpots?+

No. The map, the city and region pages, and the search all work without an account. You only need a free account if you want to add your own spots or save your own tours.

How much does MySpots cost?+

MySpots is free to use. There are no fees for browsing the map, the sights, or the city pages.

How many countries and sights are covered?+

MySpots covers more than 30 European countries – with around 75,000 towns and over 120,000 sights and places. Coverage keeps growing, region by region.

How do I find sights in a specific town or region?+

Use the search at the top – it understands foreign-language names too (for example “Prague” for Praha or “Vienna” for Wien). Or pick a country and its regions, or open the interactive map, which zooms automatically to the visible area.

Which languages does MySpots support?+

MySpots is available in German and English. Names in Cyrillic or Greek script are also transliterated into the Latin alphabet so they stay readable everywhere.

Where do the data and images come from?+

The facts come from open sources such as Wikidata (public domain, CC0) and Wikipedia, and the images from Wikimedia Commons. Every place links back to its source.

Can I create my own places or tours?+

Yes. With a free account you can add your own spots and combine them into tours – for example a city walk or a route along your favourite places.

What are the best castles and palaces in Germany?+

MySpots maps hundreds of German castles and palaces – from Neuschwanstein and Wartburg to Heidelberg and Marienburg. Filter the map by “castles” or “palaces” to see them across all of Germany or within a region such as Bavaria or Baden-Württemberg.

How do I plan a sightseeing route?+

Pick a starting point, add nearby sights, and save them as a tour. MySpots suggests places around you, so you can build a city walk or a day trip in minutes – including from your current location.

What are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and can I find them here?+

UNESCO World Heritage Sites are cultural and natural places of outstanding value. Many of them – old towns, cathedrals, Roman monuments and national parks – are included as sights on the map and can be reached through their region.

Can I find waterfalls?+

Yes. Waterfalls are their own category. Filter the map by “waterfall” to discover them across Europe or in a specific country.

Are museums included?+

Yes, museums of every kind – from large art and national museums to local and open-air museums – are covered and can be found with the “museum” category filter.

How often is the database updated?+

The sights and places are continuously added to and regularly refreshed from open data sources. New countries and regions are added on an ongoing basis.

Can I search by category?+

Yes. On the map you can filter by categories such as castles, palaces, museums, churches, waterfalls, lighthouses, ruins or viewpoints – for a single country or across Europe.

Can I export or share my tour?+

Which countries are supported?+

MySpots covers more than 40 European countries – including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland, Czechia, Croatia, Greece, the Nordic and Baltic countries and many more.

What are the best places to visit in Austria?+

In Austria, MySpots shows castles and palaces such as Schönbrunn and Hohensalzburg, abbeys like Melk, alpine viewpoints, museums and historic old towns – filterable by state and category.

Are there hidden gems and lesser-known places?+

Because MySpots covers not only the famous names but tens of thousands of smaller sights, browsing the map often turns up hidden gems away from the usual destinations – small castle ruins, chapels or viewpoints near you.

Can I find lighthouses?+

Yes. Lighthouses are their own category – especially along the coasts of the UK, Croatia, Scandinavia and the Baltic. Filter the map by “lighthouse”.

MySpots is built for sightseeing and trip planning: curated by category, with facts and images for every place and the ability to build your own tours – rather than a plain navigation map.

Which language are the place names in?+

Can I plan a weekend trip?+

Yes. Choose a city or region, filter by your interests, and combine the most exciting places into a weekend route.

Can I filter several categories at once?+

Yes. You can show several kinds of sights at the same time – for example castles and museums – and limit the view to one country.

Does it cost anything and is there advertising?+

Using MySpots is free. The map, search and the country, region and place pages are all available at no charge.

Can I jump straight to a country on the map?+

Yes. Pick a country in the filter and the map jumps right to it. From there you zoom in for detail or out to see all of Europe.

Which languages is MySpots available in?+

MySpots is currently available in eight languages: German, English, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovenian, Italian and French. The interface, country names and categories all adapt to the language you choose. More languages are in the works.
