Beckton Park

Beckton Park station stands on the Docklands Light Railway’s Beckton branch, beside the Royal Albert Dock in Newham. It sits under an elevated roundabout where the DLR runs through the middle of a major highway. The station’s platforms lie in a shallow cutting, reached by stairs and a footbridge at street level. A single ticket machine serves each platform, and three Oyster readers handle fare checks. Unlike most DLR stations, it shares an unusual design with nearby Cyprus station. The station is the least busy on the DLR network, carrying fewer passengers than any other. Trains run every five minutes off-peak, twelve each hour towards Canning Town and twelve back to Beckton. During peak times the service increases to sixteen per hour in both directions. London Buses route 376 and school route 678 stop nearby, linking the station to the surrounding area. Visitors find a quiet platform with basic facilities and clear views of passing trains. The cutting walls curve under the roundabout, creating an arched passage for pedestrians. From the footbridge, the dock waters and distant skyline can be seen. The park across the road offers open space before the houses of South Beckton begin. The station’s simplicity and efficient service make it an easy way to reach the riverside and eastern London.
