Burg Reihen

The Burg Reihen once stood on the Hühnerberg behind the church in the Reihen district of Sinsheim. Built in the 14th century by the Lords of Reihen, it later passed to the Lords of Neipperg and the Lords of Venningen in the 15th century. Only the entrance portal survives, reportedly moved to the Gasthaus zum Löwen. The ruined hilltop fortress overlooks the Kraichgau landscape near the Elsenz valley. Its brief recorded history spans little more than a century before it fell out of use. The site now shows no visible traces of walls or towers. Visitors find a quiet hillside behind the village church where the old castle once commanded the view. A short walk leads to the Gasthaus zum Löwen, where the last remnant of the Burg Reihen stands built into the wall. The surrounding fields and vineyards stretch towards the distant Odenwald hills.
