Langenstein Castle

Langenstein Castle stands in the Hegau countryside near Lake Constance. This 16th-century Renaissance palace belongs to the Douglas family, descendants of Swedish count Ludvig Douglas. It sits within the municipality of Orsingen-Nenzingen, surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards. The castle is best known for its golf course, which draws visitors from across the region. Inside, a Carnival Museum preserves local traditions and costumes. The castle’s owners have shaped its modern identity. In 2014, Count Axel Douglas sold the estate to his cousin, Count Christoph Douglas. After Christoph’s death in 2016, his son Leopold Douglas and his family moved into the castle. Leopold, born in 1989, represents the Swedish-German branch of Clan Douglas. Visitors find a grand Renaissance building with landscaped grounds. The golf course offers sweeping views over the Hegau landscape. The Carnival Museum displays colourful costumes and historical artefacts. Guests can walk through the castle’s halls and gardens, where centuries-old trees frame the view. The setting blends history with leisure, making it a distinctive place to explore.
