Na Gruagaichean

Na Gruagaichean is one of the Mamores mountains in the Scottish Highlands. It stands between Glen Nevis to the north and the village of Kinlochleven to the south. The mountain has twin peaks, with the higher summit reaching 1,056 m. It is classed as a Munro and is one of the most accessible from Kinlochleven. A well-defined path leads most of the way to the summit. The name means 'the maidens' in Scottish Gaelic. The mountain is worth the journey for its striking views and accessible climb. It lies four kilometres north north-east of Kinlochleven and offers excellent views of the village and surrounding area. The summit provides great views of mountains such as Ben Nevis and Binnein Mòr. The narrow ridges connect to other peaks like Binnein Mòr and Stob Coire a' Chàirn. The Mamores VK race, which starts in Kinlochleven, finishes at the top of Na Gruagaichean. A visitor finds a stony and craggy summit with panoramic views. The South top is the higher and therefore the summit. The narrow North-East ridge connects to Binnein Mòr via a minor top. The South ridge leads to steep slopes overlooking Kinlochleven. The old stalkers path from Kinlochleven is a common route to the summit. The mountain is also part of the challenging Ring of Steall ridge walk.
