Tair carnedd gron ochr ddeheuol Mynydd-y-Glog

Three round cairns stand on the southern slope of Mynydd-y-Glog in Hirwaun, Rhondda Cynon Taf. They date from the end of the Stone Age into the early Bronze Age. Their purpose was probably linked to burial rites and ceremonial practices for the dead. Cadw recognises the site and lists it as SAM GM525. The same Neolithic builders raised chambered tombs, round barrows, stone circles, hill forts, Irish huts and standing stones across the landscape. These cairns form part of that wider pattern of monuments. Visitors reach the cairns by following paths up the hillside. The three low mounds sit close together on open moorland with wide views over the valleys. The setting is quiet, with only the wind and distant sheep for company.
