TipsArena Linz

TipsArena Linz is a large indoor arena in Linz, Upper Austria. It stands on flat ground beside the river Danube, close to the city’s main railway station. Built in the early 2000s, it replaced an older sports hall that had served the city since the 1970s. The building is made of glass and steel, letting natural light flood the wide concourses. Inside, a single vast hall can be divided into smaller sections by movable walls. Under the roof runs a running track used for athletics meetings and concerts alike. The arena is one of the busiest venues in the region, hosting major tennis tournaments and indoor football finals. Concerts by international stars regularly fill the seats to more than 8,000 people. The city’s ice-hockey club plays its home games here when outdoor rinks are closed. Every winter the arena becomes a temporary home for a large Christmas market that draws thousands of visitors. Its flexible design also allows trade fairs and circus shows to set up quickly. Visitors find a bright, open entrance hall with cafés and shops on two levels. From the upper concourse there are clear views down to the arena floor below. The seating tiers rise steeply so every seat has a good sight-line. Outside, wide paved paths lead to the nearby riverbank promenade. On event days coloured banners and digital screens announce the programme. Inside, the airy space feels calm even when the building is full.
