Crossharbour

Crossharbour is a light metro station on the Docklands Light Railway in Cubitt Town, on the Isle of Dogs in East London. It stands between Mudchute and South Quay stations in fare zone two. The station opened in 1987 on the site of the former Millwall Docks railway station. Its name refers to the nearby Glengall Bridge across Millwall Inner Dock. The original name was temporarily changed in 1994 when the neighbouring London Arena was in use. The station has two platforms with a reversing siding between the tracks just south of the platforms. Trains from Stratford once terminated here because Lewisham station could not handle the volume. Now most trains continue to Canary Wharf instead. A social housing estate, the St John’s Estate, lies next to the station. London Buses routes 135, 277, D6, D8 and night route N277 serve the station. During off-peak hours twelve trains per hour run to Bank and twelve to Lewisham. Peak services increase to twenty-two trains per hour in each direction. Up to eight of these peak trains run to and from Stratford instead of Bank. The station provides a fast link across the Isle of Dogs and connects to central London and Lewisham.
