Pan Peninsula

Pan Peninsula stands on the Isle of Dogs in London’s Tower Hamlets borough, beside South Quay DLR station. It is a pair of high-rise residential towers built as one of the first ‘Ultra Luxury’ developments in Canary Wharf. The taller East tower reaches 148 metres across 48 storeys, making it one of London’s joint 44th-tallest buildings. The West tower is 122 metres and 38 storeys. Both were designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and completed in 2008. The towers are linked by a reception area that holds a concierge foyer, a multi-floor gym, a private cinema and a terraced restaurant. The East tower’s 48th floor contains a cocktail bar for residents and their guests. The tops of both towers are shaped like lanterns, with strong LED lighting that changes colour and lights the skyline. The West tower holds 430 apartments and the East tower has 356, mostly one- and two-bedroom units plus studios, all with balconies. Inside, studio apartments use fold-up beds that lock into wall spaces to create dining areas. The towers’ interiors include storage built into finished walls and private balconies for every home. From the upper floors, views stretch across the Thames and Canary Wharf’s skyline. The lantern-style tops glow at night, marking the towers as a landmark along the riverside.
