Seraspitz

The Seraspitz stands in the Bregenzerwald range, a southern chain of the Bregenzerwald mountains in Vorarlberg. It is a striking grassy summit on the Walserkamm ridge, about 1 890 metres above sea level. The mountain lies on the border of the villages of Blons and Laterns, with the Furkajoch col and the Pfrondhorn peak nearby. No summit cross marks the top, and the slopes carry dense grass, heather and scattered firs. The Seraspitz is worth the journey for its clear paths and short climbs. From the Furkajoch inn it takes only twenty minutes to reach the summit along a well-trodden route that gains 132 metres. A longer walk from the Serajöchle col over the Seraspitz to the Pfrondhorn peak adds about twenty minutes more. The route demands sure-footedness and proper footwear, and wet conditions increase the risk of slipping on the upper slopes. Visitors find open grassy ridges and sweeping views across the Bregenzerwald. Nearby peaks such as the Pfrondhorn and Löffelspitze frame the horizon, while the Ladritschbach stream begins just north of the Seraspitz. The Furkajoch inn and the summer-only Portlaalpe hut provide simple refreshment before the final climb.
