The Stromboding-Wasserfall lies in the upper reaches of the Steyr river in the Stodertal valley, near Hinterstoder in Upper Austria. It drops eleven metres into a narrow gorge carved by the Steyr between Steyrsberg and the Kleiner Priel. The waterfall has two channels when the river is high, but only the right-hand arm flows at low water.

For centuries it was known as a dangerous obstacle to log drivers on the Steyr. Anton Johann Groß mentioned it in his 1834 travel guide to the Austrian monarchy. Alexander Julius Schindler sketched the cascade in 1848 while exploring Upper Austria.

Visitors can watch the waterfall from a path above the gorge. In summer the right channel often runs dry, leaving a single ribbon of water. The roar of the falls is loudest after heavy rain when both arms thunder down. Beyond the cascade the Steyr continues through steep wooded slopes toward Hinterstoder.
