Schloss Pottenbrunn stands on an island in the St Pölten district of Pottenbrunn, Niederösterreich. The complex combines a medieval core with a Renaissance palace. A high tower with an onion dome rises above the oldest part, while the newer wing stretches along the waterfront.

The castle’s long history begins in 977 when it appears as a Salzburg estate. The Grabner family enlarged it in the 16th and early 17th centuries, turning the outer bailey into a two-winged residence. After war damage in 1945 and a tower collapse in 1961, the building was restored and remains in private hands.

Visitors today see the four-storey medieval block with its steep roof and narrow gallery. The 17th-century wing, flanked by octagonal towers, faces a water-filled moat fed by the Brunnader stream. A bridge leads to the entrance, though the interior is private. Part of the site now houses an alternative school, while the surrounding water and parkland offer quiet walks.
