Cairns and Ring Works S of Bryn Rhudd

Carnedd gron Bryn Rhudd is a round cairn in Ceredigion, dating from the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age. It stands on a hillside above the village of Llanddewi Brefi, marked by the grid reference SN688552. The site was likely used for burial rituals and religious ceremonies connected with the dead. Cadw has listed it as a scheduled monument under the number CD137. The builders of this cairn also constructed other ancient monuments nearby. These include chambered tombs, burial mounds, stone circles, hillforts, Irish huts and standing stones. The cairn itself is a low, grass-covered mound about ten metres across. Visitors find a quiet spot on the moorland ridge with wide views over the countryside. The cairn is easy to reach along farm tracks and footpaths from Llanddewi Brefi. Stone walls and hedges mark the route through rolling fields. The site shows how people shaped the landscape centuries ago.
