Moel Rhiwlug Cist Cairn

Moel Rhiwlug Cist Cairn stands on a low hill near Pentrefoelas in Conwy County Borough. It dates from the Bronze Age and is a burial site marked by a stone kerb rather than a full stone circle. The original earthen mound has eroded over centuries, leaving only the stone skeleton visible today. The cairn is recognised by Cadw, the Welsh historic environment service, under reference DE275. Archaeologists believe the site once held communal ceremonies as well as burials. Its grid reference SH882552 places it on open moorland with wide views across the surrounding countryside. Visitors reach the cairn by a short walk from nearby paths. The stones form a rough oval shape, about ten metres across, with smaller upright slabs around the edge. The setting is quiet and open, with only the wind and distant sheep for company.
