Round Cairn 500m SE of Moel Seisiog

A small Bronze Age round cairn stands 500 metres south-east of Moel Seisiog near Pentrefoelas in Conwy County Borough. Its stone circle once held an earthen mound and burial chamber, but centuries of weathering have worn the soil away, leaving only the stone skeleton behind. Unlike true stone circles, this site served as a burial place rather than a ceremonial ring. Experts recognise the importance of the site and have registered it with Cadw under SAM number DE307. Archaeologists believe the cairn may have hosted rituals or gatherings long ago, adding to its historical weight. The grid reference SH864569 pinpoints its quiet spot on the moorland edge. Visitors find a low ring of standing stones marking the ancient burial site. The surrounding moor stretches away in all directions, with few distractions from modern life. The wind carries the sounds of the landscape rather than voices, making the place feel remote and timeless.
