Pfarrhof Dorfgastein

The Pfarrhof Dorfgastein stands in the village of Dorfgastein in Salzburg, south of the parish church. It was built in 1735 as part of a vicariate and remains protected as a listed building. The site once held a smaller house called Scheiderlehen, which was rebuilt in 1594 and later replaced. The building’s history includes its role in education. Regular schooling began here in 1743, with Jacob Goldt serving as teacher, sexton, and organist by 1744. Repairs in 1786 improved the interior and stables, and in 1857 it became the official parish house. A parish hall was added in 1949, and major renovations took place between 1970 and 1974. Inside, the core structure is Baroque, with two storeys and five window bays. Simple stucco mouldings decorate some rooms. The building sits between the church and the old schoolhouse, which once housed the school before a dedicated Volksschule was built in 1927.
