Vorarlbergbahn

The Vorarlberg Railway runs north–south through the Austrian province of Vorarlberg, linking Lindau in Germany to Bludenz where it meets the Arlberg line. It follows the Rhine Valley and the Walgau, running close to the Rheintal/Walgau Autobahn. The route is owned by Austrian Federal Railways and carries regional and international trains. The line is important for freight and passengers. EuroCity trains run from Zurich to Graz, and Railjet services connect Bregenz with Vienna Airport six times a day. The Vorarlberg S-Bahn runs every half-hour between Bludenz and Bregenz Hafen, extending to Lindau-Insel. Nightjet overnight trains also use the whole line. Travellers see the Rhine plain and the green hills of the Walgau. Stations like Feldkirch and Bregenz sit beside the river, while the line climbs gently towards Bludenz. The electrified tracks and modern signalling keep services frequent and reliable.
