Baitus Salaam Mosque
The Baitus Salaam Mosque stands in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, as the town’s first purpose-built mosque. Completed in 2023, it replaced a former bungalow that had served as a mission house for two decades. Funds raised by the community over many years made the new building possible. A proposal was submitted in 2016 and approved after council review. Objections from local residents delayed the start, but work began once permission was granted. The mosque was inaugurated with over 200 guests, including religious leaders and local politicians. Mirza Masroor Ahmad, head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, attended the ceremony. The building includes space for 250 worshippers along with a library and a community hall. Its creation reflects years of effort by the local congregation to meet growing needs. Visitors find a modern mosque designed for worship and community use. The library offers religious texts and study space, while the hall hosts gatherings beyond prayer times. The surroundings remain part of a residential area in Scunthorpe. The building’s purpose-built design replaces the earlier mission house that once stood on the site.
