Baths Hall

The Baths Hall is an entertainment venue in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. It stands on Doncaster Road in a building that opened as a public bath house in 1931. Since the 1970s the site has hosted live music, dance and comedy. The hall closed for a major rebuild and reopened in 2005 before closing again. Bands such as The Kinks, Status Quo and Ocean Colour Scene have played there. The late DJ John Peel regularly appeared at the hall in earlier decades. The venue was threatened with demolition by the previous Conservative council. In 2007 a Labour council took charge and rebuilt the hall while keeping its 1931 frontage. The new design includes environmentally friendly technology like a rainwater harvesting system. The hall can seat up to 1,000 people or hold 1,800 when standing. After reopening it was run by ASM Global until North Lincolnshire Council took over operations in March 2022. Visitors find a modern entertainment space inside the retained 1931 façade. The interior hosts concerts, comedy nights and dance events throughout the year. The building also served as a COVID-19 vaccination centre in 2021 before returning to entertainment use. Its environmentally friendly features include systems for collecting and reusing rainwater. The hall remains a key cultural venue for the town and wider area.
