West Silvertown DLR station

West Silvertown station stands on an elevated section of the Docklands Light Railway in Silvertown, east London. It opened in December 2005 on the Woolwich Arsenal branch, linking the City of London to Woolwich. Trains run west to Bank and east to Woolwich Arsenal, stopping at London City Airport station along the way. The station sits in the London Borough of Newham within fare zone three. Before 2005, DLR trains turned south-east at Canning Town towards Royal Victoria instead. The station was built to serve growing communities such as Britannia Village and the future Peruvian Wharf development. It also provides easy access to nearby Lyle Park for local residents. London Buses routes 129 and 330 stop outside, offering onward travel across the area. During off-peak hours trains run every ten minutes to Stratford International and Bank, and every five minutes to Woolwich Arsenal. Visitors reach the platform by stairs or a lift from street level. The elevated design gives views over the surrounding docklands and the River Thames. The station’s location makes it a useful starting point for exploring Silvertown and its surroundings. Future plans include a new Thames Wharf station once the Silvertown Tunnel opens and development progresses.
