Sgùrr a' Gharaidh

Sgùrr a' Gharaidh is a mountain in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. It stands north of Loch Carron in Wester Ross. The nearest village is Lochcarron, a small settlement beside the loch. The mountain reaches 732 metres and is the highest peak in its northern area. Its most striking feature is the steep, rugged north face. To the east lies An Ruadh-stac at 892 metres and Maol Chean-dearg at 933 metres. The mountain adjoins Glas Bheinn, which is 728 metres high. Glas Bheinn slopes down toward a golf course and a graveyard beside the A896 road. The road runs along the eastern shore of Loch Carron. East Church stands near the graveyard, marking a quiet corner of the landscape. The contrast between the wild peaks and the settled valley below is clear. Walkers find rough paths leading up the slopes of Sgùrr a' Gharaidh. The craggy north face offers challenging scrambles for experienced climbers. Views from the summit stretch over Loch Carron and the surrounding hills. The bald grey summit of An Ruadh-stac rises to the east. The red slopes of Maol Chean-dearg catch the light in the evening. The area remains quiet, with few visitors disturbing the peace.
