Bretterspitze
The Bretterspitze is a 2,868-metre peak in the Glockner range of East Tyrol. Its name comes from the smooth rock slab called the Bretterwand on which it stands. The mountain serves as a survey point above the Teischnitztal valley. Climbers reach the Bretterspitze via the Stoanzgrubenscharte, a col at 2,798 metres. The route follows the Gstraunbach from the Teischnitztal, crosses scree fields and then ascends the north-north-east ridge. An alternative south-west ridge crosses steep grass slopes that become slippery when wet. From the summit ridge the view extends over the Teischnitztal to the south and the Kalser Dorftal to the west. The sheer east face drops into the Gstraunbach valley, while the west side feeds streams that flow down to the Dorftal. The rocky Bretterwand forms the southern face of the mountain.
