Bopser

The Bopser is a 485-metre hill on Stuttgart’s Filder plateau, covered in mixed woodland and threaded by walking paths. It stands south of the city centre, its slopes forming part of several districts: Degerloch, Sillenbuch, Bopser and others. The hill’s highest point is marked by the junction of Jahnstraße and Königsträßle, where seven named woods meet—Armenkastenwald, Hospitalwald and Silberwald among them. The hill is best known for the 1955 Stuttgarter Fernsehturm, a 217-metre concrete tower whose viewing platform at 152 metres offers wide views across the region. Close by is the 1912 Wasserturm Stuttgart-Degerloch, a 28-metre brick tower with a 400-cubic-metre tank. Below the summit lies the Sportzentrum Waldau, home to the Gazi-Stadion and the Eiswelt Stuttgart ice rink. Visitors find a network of forest trails such as Oberes Bospersträßle and Steiler Bopserweg, while the hill’s streams feed the Körsch and Neckar rivers. The Zahnradbahn climbs the northern slope from Marienplatz to Degerloch, linking to city trams at the hill’s edge. At the eastern foot, the Spitalwaldhalle Sillenbuch offers sports facilities, and the Jahnstraße crossroads gathers the boundaries of four districts.
