Adolf Hölzel Haus

The Adolf Hölzel Haus stands in Degerloch, a district of Stuttgart. It was once the home and studio of the artist Adolf Hölzel. The building has been carefully restored and partly refurnished with pieces that belonged to the artist. The renovation cost 1.8 million euros and was led by architects Sarah Behrens and Ina Westheiden. The city of Stuttgart provided half the funds, while the Adolf Hölzel Foundation raised the rest through donations and supporters. The museum displays a wide range of Hölzel’s works. Visitors can also consult catalogues, books and a digital database to learn more about his art. A ground-floor entrance now leads directly from Ahornstraße to Felix-Dahn-Straße, making the building fully accessible. Upstairs, the first floor houses the museum and rooms for the art workshop. The attic contains a small apartment for artists in residence. The house runs a school offering art classes for women and children. An open art workshop is available for those who wish to work independently. Special courses on different themes are held regularly. The building remains a place where people can study and practise art in the spirit of Hölzel.
