Eisenbahnmuseum Deutsch-Wagram

This is where Austria's railway began. The first section of the Emperor Ferdinand Northern Railway, from Floridsdorf to Deutsch-Wagram, opened on 23 November 1837 — the country's first steam railway line. Regular service started on 6 January 1838; from September 1848 trains ran all the way from Vienna to Kraków. The museum occupies the workers' waiting room of 1908 beside the station and opened in 1987 for the 150th anniversary of the railway in Austria. It shows uniforms, insignia, swords and equipment from the imperial era, changing exhibitions and a model of the 1837 locomotive "Austria". Next door stand the old station building of around 1852 and the water station of 1846 — the oldest surviving one in Austria.
