Carnedd gron Y Garn

A round cairn from the late Stone Age and early Bronze Age stands on the moorland above Tregaron in Ceredigion. It sits at grid reference SN732606 on a broad, open slope with wide views across the countryside. The stone heap was probably used in burial rituals and religious ceremonies long ago. Cadw recognises the site and lists it as SAM CD216. Its purpose was not domestic but ceremonial, linked to the dead. Unlike ring cairns, which have a stone circle, this simple mound of stones marks a different kind of ancient monument. Visitors find a low, grass-covered mound of stones on the moor. The surrounding heather and rough grass stretch away in all directions. From the cairn the land falls gently towards Tregaron Bog and the hills beyond.
