Güntlespitze

The Güntlespitze rises as a grassy summit of Flysch rock in the Allgäuer Alps, standing at 2 092 m above sea level. It belongs to the ridge that forms the western edge of the hamlet of Baad in the Kleinwalsertal. To its west the Üntscheller appears, while the Hintere Üntschenspitze lies to the south-east; further along the northward crest sits the Hochstarzel. A waymarked path crosses the Güntlespitze, climbing from the Derrajoch over the north-east flank to the top and then descending westwards to the Häfnerjoch. In winter the mountain is often climbed as part of a ski tour. On clear days the broad grassy dome offers wide views over the Allgäuer Alps and into the Kleinwalsertal below. The rounded summit shows the Flysch strata that give the peak its gentle shape.
