Riverside South
Riverside South is a skyscraper development planned for the western side of the Isle of Dogs in London’s Docklands. It sits on the bank of the River Thames, immediately south of Westferry Circus. The site was bought by J.P. Morgan & Co. in 2008 with a 999-year lease. Early plans involved two towers of 214 and 189 metres designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership. These were approved in 2004 but later revised to include a taller central building. The development was intended as J.P. Morgan’s London office, but the bank moved into an existing Canary Wharf building instead. Work on the basement began in 2009 and continued until 2011, when construction stalled. In 2015, the bank considered selling the site but decided to keep it for potential future use. Plans to restart construction were announced in November 2025 with a new design by Foster + Partners. When completed, the site will feature three linked towers rising above the Thames. The tallest tower could reach 235.64 metres, making it the tallest in Canary Wharf. The development will add 327,255 square metres of space to the Docklands skyline. Surrounding areas include Westferry Circus and the broader Canary Wharf estate. The project is expected to take around six years to finish.
