Pfarrkirche Ebensee-Roith

The Roman Catholic branch church in Roith stands in the village of Roith, part of Ebensee on the Traunsee in Upper Austria. It belongs to the deanery of Bad Ischl in the diocese of Linz and is protected as a listed monument. The building is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Flüe. The church began as a Mass held in 1959 in a villa called the Kogsedervilla, which served as a pastoral centre. Planning and site search were led by the curate Richard Giesriegl, with designs by architect Helmut Reischer. Construction started in May 1967 and the church was consecrated in January 1969. The large rear window was created by Rudolf Kolbitsch and made in the glass workshop of Schlierbach Abbey. Inside, the altar, tabernacle, candlesticks, holy-water font, door handles and offertory box are carved by Josef Priemetshofer. The fourteen bronze Stations of the Cross date from 1989 and were made by Johann Kienesberger. The small organ was built in the 1960s by Gregor Hradetzky for a student home in Linz before being installed here.
