Grießen Pass

Griessenpass is a high mountain pass in the Austrian Alps, standing at 975 metres. It links the Kitzbühel Alps and the Leogang Steinberge, forming a natural divide between Salzburg and Tyrol. The road crosses from Hochfilzen in Tyrol into Leogang in Salzburg, though most of it lies within Salzburg. Both the Salzburg-Tyrol Railway and the Hochkönig-Straße (B164) run through the pass. The pass offers a clear route through rugged alpine terrain, connecting two major mountain ranges. Travellers crossing it experience a shift in landscape as they move between regions. The railway line adds a modern contrast to the wild surroundings. Visitors find open mountain roads winding through steep slopes and valleys. The views stretch across alpine meadows and rocky peaks on either side. The pass remains a practical crossing point, used daily by trains and vehicles.
