Lamsenspitze

The Lamsenspitze is a mountain peak in the Karwendel range, standing 2,508 metres above sea level in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It rises above steep eastern walls and is a popular destination for climbers and hikers. The Lamsenjoch Hut sits at the foot of these walls, providing a base for those aiming for the summit. The hut also has a small garden where climbers can relax after their efforts. Two metal crosses mark the top of the Lamsenspitze, one of which is visible from the hut far below. The easiest way up is a narrow path secured with fixed wire ropes, starting from the Lamsenjoch Hut. A more challenging route follows a via ferrata that includes a tunnel known as the Brudertunnel or Lamstunnel. Both paths begin at the hut, which itself can be reached by a long mountain hike from Pertisau or from the Ahornboden. The climb rewards walkers with wide views across the Karwendel’s ridges and valleys. The fixed ropes and iron rungs make the route safe for those with basic climbing experience. At the summit, the air is thin and the outlook stretches for many kilometres. The two crosses stand as simple markers on the rocky top, one facing back towards the hut. Below, the Lamsenjoch Hut remains a welcome sight for tired climbers. The contrast between the steep walls and the gentle alpine meadows below adds to the mountain’s appeal. The route through the tunnel is especially memorable for its unusual passage through solid rock.
