Falls of Camserney

The Falls of Camserney stand in Perth and Kinross, where the Camserney Burn drops over a series of rocky ledges into the River Tay valley. The burn rises on the southern slopes of Ben Chonzie, a broad whale-backed hill that rises to 931 metres. The falls lie only a few hundred metres downstream from the farm of Camserney, which gives them their name. The site is one of the most accessible Highland waterfalls, reached by a short walk from the farm track. Its single main drop measures about twelve metres, though the burn continues to tumble in smaller leaps for some distance below. The falls are recognised in local place names, where ‘eas’ is the Gaelic word for a waterfall and appears in Camserney. Visitors follow a clear path beside the burn to viewpoints above and below the main fall. The surrounding landscape is open moorland with patches of birch and rowan. On quieter days the sound of water over rock fills the air, and the spray keeps the grass around the plunge pool lush and green.
