Lüchlekopf

The Lüchlekopf stands in the Allgäuer Alps in Vorarlberg, Austria, rising to 1,989 metres. It belongs to the north-western Walsertaler group, where the Walmendinger Horn and Grünhorn mark the ridge. The Schwarzwassertal valley lies to the north, while the Breitach river forms near its southern slopes. Mittelberg village lies just over three kilometres east, with the hamlet of Baad further south. The name comes from local alpine terms, with early records in 1793 and 1818 showing different labels. Both Lüchle and Muttel refer to small alpine pastures nearby. Thaddäus Steiner argues the names describe the same peak, though maps sometimes separate the Muttelbergkopf as a lower summit. The normal climb starts from Schwarzwasserhütte at 1,620 metres via the Muttelbergscharte pass. A harder route follows the Ochsenhofer Scharte and Litzescharte from the same hut. The final ridge demands sure-footedness to reach the top, where views stretch across the Alps.
