A98 road

The A98 is a coastal road in northeast Scotland that runs through Moray and Aberdeenshire. It begins at Fochabers, where it meets the A96, and travels northeast past towns like Buckie, Findochty and Portknockie. The road continues through Cullen and Portsoy before reaching Banff and Macduff after a junction with the A95. The route passes near prehistoric sites such as Longman Hill, a burial mound from the Neolithic period. It then skirts New Pitsligo before turning inland and finally reaching Fraserburgh, where it ends. The road was once a primary route but lost that status after the A92 was renumbered as the A90. Drivers on the A98 pass fishing villages with harbours and sandy beaches. Views of the Moray Firth and the North Sea stretch along much of the route. The road also links places known for whisky distilleries and historic ruins.
