Macduff

The Macduff distillery stands beside the fishing town of Macduff in Aberdeenshire. It is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in the Highland whisky-producing area. The distillery was founded in 1960 by Macduff Distillers Ltd. In 1972 it was bought by William Lawson Distillers. Martini & Rossi took control in 1980, and Bacardi became owner in 1992. Macduff is an important part of blended whiskies such as William Lawson. It produces single malt whisky under the name ‘The Deveron’ in 10-, 12- and 18-year-old expressions. The distillery also supports local groups like the Portsoy 75 Club. Its whisky is known for its light, floral character. Visitors find a working distillery with stills, mash tuns and warehouses. The site overlooks the Moray Firth and the town of Macduff. The Deveron range is available in the distillery shop. Guided tours explain how malt whisky is made. The surrounding area offers coastal walks and views of the harbour.
