Carnedd gron Pencraig y Pistill

Carnedd gron Pencraig y Pistill is a round cairn in Ceredigion, dating from the late Neolithic to the early Bronze Age. It stands in the community of Bont-goch, near the grid reference SN715864. Round cairns like this one were built as part of burial rituals and ceremonies. They differ from ring cairns, which have a distinct circular shape. The site was recorded by Cadw and given the SAM number CD250. The builders of this cairn also constructed other ancient monuments nearby. These include chambered tombs, burial mounds, stone circles, hillforts, Irish huts and standing stones. The landscape around the cairn shows traces of these earlier structures. The area reflects the activities of prehistoric communities over many centuries. Visitors to the site find a grassy mound surrounded by open countryside. The cairn itself is a low, circular heap of stones, now covered in turf. The setting is quiet and remote, with few modern distractions. The view stretches over rolling hills and farmland.
