Carnedd gron Dol-Gau

Carnedd gron Dol-Gau is a round cairn in Ceredigion, Wales. It dates from the end of the Neolithic period into the Bronze Age. The site lies in the community of Trefeurig near grid reference SN709826. Its purpose was likely linked to burial rituals and religious ceremonies. Round cairns differ from ring cairns, which have a distinct circular shape.

Cadw has registered the cairn as a scheduled monument, giving it the unique SAM number CD065. The same prehistoric builders also created chambered tombs, burial mounds, stone circles, hillforts, Irish huts and standing stones. These structures show how widespread Neolithic and Bronze Age practices were across the landscape.

Visitors find a simple grass-covered mound set in open countryside. The site is quiet and remote, with no modern structures nearby. It offers a direct connection to the beliefs and customs of ancient communities. The surrounding hills and fields add to the sense of stepping back in time.
