Zwercheck

The Zwercheck, known in Czech as Svaroh, is a mountain on the ridge of the Künisches Gebirge within the Bohemian Forest. Its summit straddles the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. The broad, rounded top is covered with meadow and a small rocky outcrop bearing a summit cross. From here, wide views stretch to the Great Arber, the Kaitersberg and down into the Lamer Winkel.
The mountain has two official routes to the top. One starts at Oberhaiderberg near Lohberg, the other at the Scheibensattel on the Brennes road between Lohberg and Bayerisch Eisenstein. A less-used path follows the border line itself, rarely taken by locals. In about three hours a wilder route along the border leads northwest to the Osser.
At the summit the meadow and rock provide open space for resting. The summit cross marks the highest point, and the outlook takes in the surrounding peaks of the Bohemian Forest. The contrast between the gentle summit and the quiet border ridge adds to the mountain’s quiet appeal.
