Thiersee

Thiersee Lake lies in the centre of Vorderthiersee, a village in the Thiersee valley in Tirol. The lake sits at 616 metres above sea level and is surrounded by mountains that form a natural kettle. It can be reached by car or by local bus from Kufstein along the valley road. The water is of Grade A quality, making it excellent for swimming. Small creeks feed the lake with fresh water, while the Thiersee Ache drains it after seven kilometres.

The lake offers several activities beside swimming. Boat trips let visitors explore the water from a different angle. Beach volleyball courts stand ready for games on the shore. In June the water warms to about 24 °C, the best temperature of the year. The surrounding mountains provide a scenic backdrop for all these pursuits.

Paths run around the lake for walking or cycling. The shoreline is lined with grassy areas where people can relax. Views of the peaks rise above the water, giving a sense of being enclosed by nature. The valley’s quiet atmosphere makes it a good place to unwind after a day outdoors.
