The Schuchtkogel is a 3,471-metre peak in the Ötztal Alps of Tirol. It stands just 1.5 kilometres north-east of the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in the range. All sides of the Schuchtkogel are surrounded by glaciers, with the Mittelbergferner to the east and the Taschachferner to the west. The Braunschweiger Hütte, built by Richard Schucht, sits at 2,759 metres about five kilometres north-east of the summit. This alpine hut serves as the usual starting point for climbers heading to the top.

The first ascent was made on 8 September 1874 by Alois Grüner, G. Praxmarer and Carl Zöppritz. The normal route follows the Mittelbergferner and then the north ridge, graded UIAA II. The name Schuchtkogel honours Richard Schucht, whose hut provides shelter and supplies for those tackling the mountain. From the hut the route crosses the glacier before the final climb to the summit.

Visitors find a high-alpine environment of ice and rock above the hut. The Braunschweiger Hütte itself offers basic overnight accommodation and meals. The glaciers below are part of the larger Weißkamm chain, a region known for its rugged beauty. Views extend across the Ötztal Alps to the Wildspitze and beyond. The climb demands fitness and sure-footedness, but the sense of height and isolation rewards those who reach the top.
