Schloss Lampoding once stood on the eastern shore of Lake Waging in the village of Lampoding, part of Kirchanschöring in Traunstein district. The site lies at the end of Lodronweg, beside the Aichet Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto. Archaeologists recognise it as the remains of a late medieval and early modern Hofmarkschloss, now protected as a monument under Bavarian heritage law. Light earthworks and variations in vegetation still mark the outline of the former complex. After the First World War, drainage work turned up scattered stones and fragments of walls.
The residence belonged to a succession of local families before passing to the Lodron counts in the 17th century. A three-storey building with a hipped roof and corner turrets, it housed a domestic chapel on the upper floor. An 18th-century fresco in the parish church of Kirchstein and the volunteer fire brigade’s flag both depict the house as it looked then. A Lodron coat of arms set into a nearby inn wall may be another relic of the castle, which stood less than fifty metres away.
Today only the former chapel survives, standing beside the lakeside path. Wild roses and elder bushes grow where the main building once rose. Visitors can walk the shoreline and see the slight rise that marks the site, or look at the fresco and the fire brigade banner to picture the vanished house. The silver rose from the Lampoding family arms now appears in the arms of Kirchanschöring, linking the place to its past.
