The Querlstein is a mountain in the Toten Gebirge range in Styria, standing at 2,084 metres above sea level. It forms the southern shoulder of the Mittermölbing, connected by a broad ridge. The steep western face drops into the Goldbachtal valley, where the Kawasser-See lake lies, while the eastern slope falls sharply to the Brunnalm alpine pasture. The southern side is gentler, covered in dense mountain pine. The summit is rarely visited but rewards hikers with sweeping views across the southern plateau of the Warscheneck group.

At the top stands a summit cross erected in 2020, housing a logbook. The cross includes a cowbell found in 2019 at the source of the Goldbachl stream near the mountain’s base. The main route to the top follows the marked trail 219 from the Brunnalm, while an unmarked path leads up the western flank from the Kawasser-See.

The surrounding area offers rugged alpine scenery with steep valleys and open ridges. The dense growth of mountain pine on the southern slopes contrasts with the bare rock faces elsewhere. The summit’s isolation and quiet make it a peaceful destination for those seeking a less crowded viewpoint. The integrated cowbell adds a touch of local history to the modern summit cross.
