Plannerseekarspitze
The Plannerseekarspitze stands at 2,072 metres in the Wölz Tauern range of the Austrian Alps. It rises on a ridge that stretches west from the Plannerknot summit, flanked by the Hintere Gstemmerspitze to the west and the Plannerknot to the east. Three valleys frame the mountain: the Kothüttenbach stream valley on the northwest slopes, the Ranzenkar valley on the northeast, and the southern shore of Plannersee lake. A short side ridge runs north between the Ranzenkar and Kothüttenbach valleys. The mountain is reached by two marked hiking routes. Route 16 starts at the Plannerknot junction and follows the ridge eastward. Route 17 begins at the Planneralm centre and climbs the southern flanks. Both paths lead walkers through alpine meadows and past steep rock faces to the summit. On the summit visitors find a metal cross and wide views across the Wölz Tauern. To the north the peaks of the Rottenmann chain appear, while to the south the waters of Plannersee reflect the surrounding summits. The contrast between the green valleys and the rocky ridges makes the climb worthwhile.
