Parken is a football stadium in Copenhagen’s Indre Østerbro district. It stands on the site of the former Idrætsparken, built between 1990 and 1992 with a retractable roof. The stadium hosts F.C. Copenhagen and the Denmark national football team. It can hold 38,190 for football matches and up to 55,000 for concerts. In 2020 it was one of twelve venues for UEFA Euro 2020, hosting three group games and a round of 16 match. A three-Michelin-star restaurant, Geranium, occupies the eighth floor.
The stadium replaced Idrætsparken, which closed after a 0–2 Euro 1992 qualifier loss to Yugoslavia. Parken opened on 9 September 1992 with a 1–2 friendly defeat to Germany. Investors rebuilt it for 640 million Danish kroner, securing a 15-year guarantee that all national matches would be played there. In 1998 F.C. Copenhagen bought the stadium for 138 million Danish kroner. It became a UEFA four-star venue in 1993, qualifying it for Europa League finals.
Visitors find a modern stadium with a retractable roof and free high-speed Wi-Fi. The pitch is surrounded by four stands, three rebuilt during the 1990s reconstruction. Concerts have featured performers from AC/DC to Beyoncé, and Michael Jackson once drew 60,000 fans in a single night. The adjacent office buildings belong to Parken Sport & Entertainment. The stadium remains a landmark for both football and major live events in Copenhagen.
