Kuppe
The Kuppe is a 729-metre peak in the Harz range near Sankt Andreasberg in the Goslar district of Lower Saxony. It stands in the Upper Harz within the Harz Nature Park, just two kilometres north-north-west of the town centre. The Jordanshöhe ridge lies immediately to its east, while the Sperrlutter stream rises on the western slope of the Jordanshöhe.
The mountain belongs to the Southern Upper Harz natural sub-region and straddles the border between the Andreasberg Plateau and the Sieber Uplands. Protected landscape covers part of its slopes under the Harz Landscape Conservation Area. To the south-west the terrain drops steeply into the Dreibrodetal valley, which leads down to the Siebertal valley.
Visitors reach the summit via forest tracks that cross the conservation zone. The wide views extend over the surrounding ridges and down into the valleys. On clear days the Brocken, the Harz’s highest peak, can be seen to the north-west. The rocky outcrops of the Glückaufklippen lie on the shared southern flank of the Kuppe and the Jordanshöhe.
