Hausstein

The Hausstein is a mountain in the Anterior Bavarian Forest, rising to 917 metres. It stands southwest of Regen and northeast of Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria. The mountain belongs to the municipality of Schaufling in Deggendorf district. Two ski lifts operate on its western slope, reaching up to 1,100 metres. These lifts form part of the Deggendorf-Rusel-Hausstein ski and cross-country centre.
North of the Hausstein lies the Rusel, a nearby ridge. On the southern side of the mountain sits the Asklepios Clinic of Schaufling, set in a panoramic position. The clinic overlooks the surrounding valleys and forests. The contrast between the medical facility and the natural landscape is striking. The mountain’s slopes are also used for hiking outside the winter season.
Visitors to the Hausstein find open meadows and dense woodland on its lower reaches. The ski lifts carry winter sports enthusiasts up the slopes. From the summit area, wide views stretch across the Bavarian Forest. The clinic’s terrace offers a quiet spot to enjoy the scenery. The mountain’s trails connect to broader networks for longer walks. The area remains peaceful even when the lifts are busy.
