Grönegaumuseum
The Grönegaumuseum sits in Melle, a town in the Osnabrück district, surrounded by the Grönenbergpark. It occupies four old buildings, the oldest being a granary built in 1527. The museum focuses on the farming and craft traditions of the Grönegau region and the former Melle district. Inside, visitors find tools, furniture, clothing, and fully equipped workshops. A blacksmith’s forge and a carpenter’s shop show how local craftsmen once worked. The collection also includes everyday household items that tell the story of rural life over centuries. The museum won the VGH-Stiftung’s 2007 prize for a children’s participation project. Since 2002, the award has recognised creative ways to engage young visitors with museum learning. Its location in the park makes it a peaceful place to explore local history.
