Glexenköpfe

The Glexenköpfe are three mountain peaks in the Venedigergruppe range in East Tyrol. They stand in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, where glaciers cover much of the ground. The peaks rise only slightly above the surrounding ice, with the highest summit reaching 3,090 metres.

Climbers reach the Glexenköpfe most easily from the Defreggerhaus hut. From there they head east across the Äußere Mullwitzkees glacier before tackling the rocky island of the peaks. The route leads to the southern summit first, then along a narrow ridge to the two northern pinnacles, graded III on the climbing scale.

Around the Glexenköpfe lie several huts and passes. The Badener Hütte sits to the east, the Eisseehütte to the south, and the Wallhorntörl pass to the south as well. To the west is the Mullwitzköpfl, while the Friedrich-August-Wand and the Frosnitztörl pass lie further east. The scene is one of ice and rock, high above the valleys below.
