Ruederkarspitze
The Ruederkarspitze is a 2,240-metre peak in the Karwendel range of Tirol. It stands in the middle of the Gamsjoch group, separated from the highest summit, the Gamsjoch, by a deep notch in a sharp ridge. Another saddle, the Roßkopfsattel, divides it from the next summit, the Roßkopfspitze. The top is reached only by a demanding route without marked paths. The climb is serious mountaineering, graded UIAA II with UIAA III passages. It is rarely visited, so the route is little marked and rockfall is a hazard. The approach follows the Pleisenkarferl cirque beneath steep walls. The final section involves climbing a north-facing slab to the summit block. From the summit there are wide views over the Karwendel’s jagged crests. To the north the valleys of the Isar and the Achensee stretch away. To the south the Wetterstein and Mieminger chains rise against the sky. The isolation makes the sense of space even greater.
